Making a Difference
In 2009, the Kinark Golf Classic raised close to $50,000! These funds were invested in the following Kinark programs: - "STRIVE", a school-based program for teenagers with social, emotional and behavioural problems that offers counselling, educational support and assistance with employment.
- A summer camp experience for children with Autism at the Kinark Outdoor Centre that provides children with a sense of accomplishment, positive social interactions and fun!
- A youth initiative focused on reducing bullying and promoting positive communications and problem-solving.
- "Special Friends", a program that matches children and youth experiencing mental health problems with a caring adult to provide one-on-one friendship and respite for families.
These are just a few examples of how funds raised at the Kinark Golf Classic have already made a difference in the lives of children, youth and families. Please join us on August 18, 2010 to help more families of children with mental health problems move forward in life with the help of Kinark Child and Family Services.
